Picture Books for Littles
The following are Christmas books LG has enjoyed for years now! She will turn 4 at the end of this month, so all of the books included below are especially great for toddlers and preschoolers!
1. That’s Not My Reindeer
2. Counting Christmas
One of my favorite ways to sneak in academic practice, especially during busy times like that holidays, is by choosing picture books that include an academic skill! Reading a counting book together is a great way to combine reading and counting practice!
3. A Very Merry Christmas
4. Merry Christmas, Daniel Tiger!
5. The Jesus Storybook Bible
We will definitely be reading the Christmas story a million times in our beloved Jesus Storybook Bible this December! In addition, we’ll be using our Wandering Wisemen Christmas Bible study to make sure our focus stays on Jesus in the midst of all these other fun picture books!
Picture Books for All ages
If your little one is able to sit for longer periods of time, don’t forget to include these other Christmas picture books! There are so many classics to choose from!
6. The Polar Bear Who Saved Christmas
7. Merry Christmas, Amelia Bedelia
Oh, that silly Ameilia Bedelia. She has been a favorite of mine for years! In fact, the book in the picture below is mine from childhood! I love it!
8. Llama Llama Holiday Drama
Who doesn’t love a good Llama Llama book?! They are some of my favorites, and LG just thinks they are the funniest books ever!
9. The Christmas ABCs
ABC books are another great way to sneak in some extra practice into your reading time! Whether you have a preschooler learning letter names and sounds, or a big kid who just wants to learn more about a certain topic, ABC books are perfect!
10. Bear Stays Up For Christmas
11. The Berenstain Bears Meet Santa Bear
You can tell from this picture that our Berenstain Bear books are well loved. We grab them anytime we see them, and love adding to our collection! They have the sweetest story lines for all seasons!
12. The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving
13. The Berenstain Bears and the Christmas Angel
14. The Berenstain Bears Go Christmas Caroling
15. How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
Of course you CAN’T leave out this classic! This is one of LG and Matt’s favorite Christmas traditions! He loves to get into the voices with this one, and LG loves it as well!
I can’t wait to fill our December will lots and lots of Christmas reading! And I hope to add to this list as the month goes on! Do you have a favorite Christmas book? I’d LOVE to hear all about it!
