Winter is a fun time to dive into a snow theme! We may not get much snow here in North Texas, but we sure do love learning about it! Below you’ll find some of our favorite snow printables and activities!
Snowflake Life Cycle Study
Of course I couldn’t share a post about snow printables and activities without including one of our favorite Science studies! In January, we study the life cycle of a snowflake. It’s a fun way to add a Winter twist to our Science lessons and enrich our Reading time!
This study includes so many engaging activities for studying the snowflake life cycle! Get started with book recommendations and informative videos. Then, practice important vocabulary for your unit using sensory bins, handwriting cards, practice pages, and more! Finally, review and assess with cut-and-paste printables, vocabulary pages, and a retelling booklet!
Snow Themed Sensory Bin
One of the easiest sensory bins to make all year long is a snow themed sensory bin! Simply grab a bag of fluffy cotton balls, and BAM! You have a snowball bin! You can add extra fun manipulatives like Winter-colored pompoms, mini erasers, Winter table scatter, and more! Keep reading to learn about some of our favorite academic resources to include in our snow sensory bin!
Toddler Winter Sensory Bins
Toddler sensory bins are the perfect way to ease your little learners into academic sensory bin activities! This set of activities includes 3 Winter puzzles, 3 Winter matching mats, and find-and-color worksheets to go with the matching mats. Little ones will love finding their pieces in the sensory bin!
FREE Winter PreK & K Centers
Need some FREE activities? This set of Math and Literacy printables includes tons of free resources, including this snowball count and trace activity! Students choose a snowball card (add them to your sensory bin for more fun!) and count the snowballs. Then, students find and trace the corresponding number on their recording sheet!
Winter Preschool Sensory Bins
Are your Preschoolers ready for some more academic activities in their sensory bins? These bins are for you! Choose from 6 different sensory bin activities to practice skills like counting, colors, beginning sounds, and more!
Students can either find and match the card on the correct answer or record their answer on their recording sheet!
Watercolor Art w/Snow
I’m not going to lie – I’m a little too intimidated by the snow ice cream experiment I’ve seen shared on social media during snow days. Maybe that’s because our snow is never very clean looking? Ha!
I DO, however, love to play with the snow. And one of our favorite ways to play with it is by painting it! For this activity, simply pack a bunch of snow in a casserole dish. Then, grab some watercolor paints and get painting! The packed snow makes the colors look so brilliant!
Winter Preschool Centers
A great way to keep your littlest learners engaged during school time is by switching out your themes regularly! In January, we love to our Winter Preschool centers! This set includes 10+ centers that are great for practicing common Early Math and Literacy skills like counting, numbers, letters, shapes, fine motor skills, and more!
Snowflake Dabbing Craft
This snowflake dabbing craft is a super simple way to combine fine motor skills practice with craft time! To create your snowflakes, tape strips of paper on a larger sheet in the shape of a snowflake. Then, use BINGO dabbers to dab all over the page. When it’s dry, remove the taped strips of paper to reveal your sparkly white snowflake!
Winter PreK and Kindergarten Centers
If you’re working with older Preschool and/or Kindergarten kiddos this Winter, you won’t want to miss these Winter Math and Literacy centers! I created these with my dear friend, Michelle (Smitten with First) and they were a staple of our homeschool time for YEARS! This set is packed full of hands-on ways to practice important skills like counting, shapes, addition/subtraction, beginning sounds, rhyming, CVC words, and SO MUCH more!
Let’s hang out!
