10+ Fun Beach Activities for Preschool Children

Ready or not, Summer is here! Today I’m sharing Beach activities that are certain to keep your little learners engaged and excited about learning, ensuring you make the most of your Summer learning time together!

These Beach activities are perfect for toddlers and early Preschoolers! This unit includes 15 hands-on, printable activities in color and black/white. Your little ones will love practicing common Preschool skills like counting, colors, shapes, and more! Each center in the unit can be adapted for little ones ages 2-4 years old and includes tons of fine motor skills practice!

One thing you can NEVER practice too much with Preschoolers is fine motor strength! This is such a crucial skill for our littlest learners in order for them to complete basic tasks both in school and out – think of holding a pencil, tying their shoes, even grasping a fork! But just because they’re important skills doesn’t mean they have to be difficult to practice!

Our NO PREP Summer fine motor skills worksheets are a great resource to add to your Beach activities collection. Included you’ll find 25 NO PREP practice pages for children to practice tracing, cutting, gluing, coloring, sorting, and so much more! Plus they make fantastic crafts and keepsakes!

We have SO many wonderful Beach books in our collection, I decided to put together an entire blog post full of our favorites! Sensory bins make GREAT Beach activities when you can’t actually make it TO the beach! Kinetic sand has been a go-to sensory bin filler of ours for year, and it perfectly mimics playing in the wet sand!

To make this sensory bin for our Beach activities, I added a bunch of kinetic sand to a bin. (I usually do 2 bags of it to really fill ‘er up!) Then I added sea shells we found at Dollar Tree, but you could absolutely use keepsake shells from a previous beach trip! Them we use ocean themes stamps, cookie cutters, and mini shovels to build sand castles!

One of our favorite activities each month are our themed worksheets. Using worksheets with preschoolers may sound a little odd, but my girls LOVE these practice pages! All of the pages include coloring, cutting, gluing, tracing, and more! That way your kiddos are combining fine motor skills practice with academic skills! With 35+ practice pages, this NO PREP set of Beach activities is a lifesaver!

These sensory bins are a fun addition to your Beach activities whether you choose to use a sensory bin or NOT! Simply provide your kiddos with the cut out pieces and help them make their matches on the matching mats, or guide them in recording their answers on their worksheets! This Beach themed set practices shapes, colors, counting, beginning sounds, and letter identification!

Want to test out sensory bins with your Preschool but not really sure where to begin? Our puzzles and matching mats are a perfect place to start! This set includes 3 puzzles and 3 matching mats. To play, children choose picture cards from their sensory bin and match them to their mat to cover all the pictures or complete the puzzles. This is a great, low-pressure way to explore sensory bin activities without adding academic skills for children who aren’t ready yet.

The sea turtle life cycle is a great Science addition to your Beach activities! It’s also a great way to modify your Summer themed plans for older siblings or students who are ready to move along in skills. LG loves learning about different life cycles with these studies!

This study includes tons of hands-on activities like sensory bins, STEM activities, sequencing cards and more! It also includes book recommendations, videos, real-life photos and practice pages!

Well, friends… Are you ready to dig in to cozy fun yet?? I hope all of these ideas for Beach activities help your family enjoy all sorts of Summer fun! I’d love to chat and get to know you better! Come hang out with us in some of our favorite places!
