8 Exciting Activities and Ideas for the Kids Thanksgiving Table

Looking for some ways to enjoy a little uninterrupted adult conversation and maybe some eggnog this Thanksgiving? I’ve got lots of fun activities to keep your little ones entertained! Prep these exciting activities and ideas for the kids Thanksgiving table, then kick back and enjoy a hot cup of coffee!

Play dough trays keep LG entertained for so long! We add several colors of dough, cookie cutters, tools, and prompts for her to start with. But her imagination keeps her going and going! This turkey building dough tray is sure to give you tons of uninterrupted time to catch up with family. Simply set it up at the kids Thanksgiving table and kick back while your kiddos create away!

We LOVE puffy sticker crafts! Every month or season, LG and I make a trip to Hobby Lobby to find some new ones. They’re perfect for lots of activities – from coloring sorting to counting! For this activity, we used the stickers and a piece of cardstock to make a Fall wreath! This would make a great kids Thanksgiving table activity for your kiddos!

LG and I got this adorable idea from my friend Jayme at Teach Talk Inspire! You have to give her a visit!

In October, LG and I discovered how much fun we could have with torn construction paper! To make these, I simply inserted clipart as large as I could on the page. Then I outlined each part of the image with the color I wanted LG to match with her construction paper. She loved getting to glue the pieces down!

To help make things a smidge easier for those of you who don’t own clipart, I’ve put together a fun set of templates in our Free Resource Library for you to simply print and lay out for your kiddos!

Y’all HAD to know I would be including some sensory bins in this post, right?? I can’t do without them, especially at the kids Thanksgiving table!! They can be as simple or as intricate as you’d like! To stick with the basics – fill a bin with your favorite filler (like dry beans, oatmeal, or pompoms), toss in some seasonal treats, and add some scooping tools. Your kiddos will be entertained for so long!

Never underestimate the power of a brand new coloring book, y’all. LG has been loving this one that I bought from Krista at Creative Clips! My favorite thing about buying digital coloring books like this one is that I can print it for LG over and over again! It’s so easy to print and add this set to your kids Thanksgiving table, and there are TONS of other themes to choose from to meet all of your kiddos’ interest!

Setting up a craft tray is a great way to give your kiddos lots of open-ended play! And putting together a themed tray for your kids Thanksgiving table is super simple. Just grab craft supplies you already have on hand and sort out the colors that fit that theme!

For this Thanksgiving craft tray, I included Thanksgiving stickers, glitter pens, small containers of paint, Kwik Stix, and glitter glue. BUT you could absolutely grab a bunch of crayons, markers, colored pencils, and any other common supply! Simply sorting out the themed colors and adding them to a new display like this tray makes a huge difference in engagement!

Not in the mood to prep all the things? No worries! We LOVE grabbing these craft kits from stores like Hobby Lobby! This is such a great way to grab something super low prep to entertain the kiddos. Want to get ahead for Christmas? You could even have the kiddos create with Christmas craft kits so they can make decorations to kick of the Christmas season!

Having a book basket at the kids Thanksgiving table is a great way to include your shy kiddos, or even help the little ones rest if the holiday festivities are cutting into nap time! You can find some of our favorites by CLICKING HERE!
