How to Celebrate Advent with Little Learners

It’s just about time for one of our favorite Christmas traditions! When LG was itty bitty, I created a resource to use throughout the month of December. And if you’re trying to figure out how to celebrate Advent with little learners this year, you won’t want to miss this one!

This resource is a Bible study that takes us all the way from what the Old Testament told us about our coming Savior, to the celebration of Jesus’ birth! We are already SO excited to get it back out for this Christmas!

What’s In This Resource?

The key to keeping little ones engaged with anything is to keep it hands-on. This is especially true with Bible study! So this study includes tons of hands-on ways to study! Included you’ll find…

-25 days of Bible study passages (We study using the ESV, but feel free to use whichever translation your family chooses!)

-25 days of journal prompts and writing templates

-characters to print (Mary, Joseph, Jesus, & Wisemen)

-25 days of hands-on activities to help bring the passages to life

Who Can Use This Advent Study?

When I first created this study, LG was just shy of turning 2. I knew that she wouldn’t be able to do all of the activities, but that’s one of the perks to this resource. Now she’s almost 4 and we are still using this same Bible study because each year she can do a little bit more!

This year, we will be reading all of the daily passages and completing all of the hands-on activities! We’ll also be discussing the journal prompts since she’s not ready to complete journal prompts on her own. Maybe in a few years!

How Do I Use This Advent Study?

I always liked the idea of the silly little Elf on a Shelf who hopped around the house getting into shenanigans. But it’s been important for our family to keep December focused on the celebration of Jesus’ birth. So, I created this study with a similar concept in mind.

To add a fun twist to your Bible study, use a fun Nativity set (or the printables included in the resource) and place them in various parts of your home with the Bible study passage for each day! LG loves looking around to see where the wisemen will be each morning!

We find our wisemen and the day’s study, then get to reading with our breakfast. This is the perfect way to focus our hearts on Jesus during a busy month that’s filled with distractions like new Christmas gifts and decorations!
