3 Free Valentine’s Day Math and Literacy Activities for Preschool Children

Happy February, y’all! If you’re looking for some fun Math and Literacy activities, you won’t want to miss these 3 free Valentine’s Day activities for Preschool children! These FREE Valentine’s Day printables cover letter identification, shape matching, and extra fine motor skills practice. Whether you are working with children in the classroom or your own little ones at home, I hope that these activities are so helpful for you!

We absolutely LOVE a good matching mat! (Need more evidence? Check out our entire bundle of ’em here!) I love how easy they are to differentiate. Start off small by putting the shape cards in your sensory bin and pulling out one at a time to identify the shape. Then try to find the matching shapes on the mat! Or even print off multiple copies to play a game of Memory! No matter how you use them, these free Valentine’s Day shapes will be so handy!

Color by code activities are so much fun, and this free Valentine’s Day page is no exception! To use, children practice locating letters F-J on their worksheet and color them by the provided code. I love watching my little one finally recognize what the mystery picture is as she works! Color by code printables are especially helpful activities for children who are focusing more on letter identification rather than letter formation. If writing and tracing letters are still a little frustrating for your little learners, color by code sheets are a great way to keep them excited about their practice!

Patterns are SO much fun to practice with beads! We love using them with pipe cleaners to practice replicating, building, and extending colorful patterns! If you checked out our Valentine’s Day Sensory and Fine Motors blog post, you know that we added these little strips to our craft/fine motors tray for the month of February. They’ve been such a hit! And let’s be honest – who doesn’t love stringing beads during craft time?? Not only are these fun with the pipe cleaners, but they become lovely free Valentine’s Day gifts when you swap out the pipe cleaners for strings and create necklaces or bracelets for loved ones!
