pumpkin books

The first thing I love to do when we begin a new themed unit is grab ALL. THE. BOOKS. for that theme. And finding books for a pumpkin theme is SO much fun! Using a Science themed Math and Literacy unit is a great way to include nonfiction texts in your reading! Check out some of our favorite pumpkin books below! *These are Amazon affiliate links. pumpkin life cycle study

We LOVE getting into our life cycle studies each year, and this pumpkin life cycle study is no exception! It includes tons of fun ways to learn about pumpkins like book recommendations, videos, sensory bins, STEM ideas, practice pages, and MORE!

pumpkin painting

Pumpkin painting, anyone??? If you want to keep pumpkins around the house for more than 2 seconds (thanks a lot, rotting Jack-o-lanterns…), you’ve GOT to try painting mini pumpkins!! These KwikStix tempera paint sticks are perfect for low-mess painting and show up so well! We grab a bag of mini pumpkins at the grocery store and paint a couple each week all season long. This beloved pumpkin activity never gets old!

pumpkin washing

Does anyone else’s kid loving washing things?! Give LG a water bin filled with soapy bubbles and she’ll wash anything! When we first started our tradition of painting mini pumpkins, I gave her this task to make sure all the pumpkins were clean so the paint would stick. Little did I know it would turn into such a HUGE hit with our pumpkin activities!

pumpkin tear art

Need a little NO PREP pumpkin fun? You will love these no prep Fall fine motor skills pages! From pumpkin tear art to cut and match pages, choose from 25 worksheets that will get your little learners in the Fall spirit!

Included you’ll find 15 Math, Literacy, and fine motor skills centers that cover important skills like counting, colors, shapes, letters, and MORE!

pumpkin play dough tray

Want a really fun way to combine all your favorite pumpkin activities into one? Make a pumpkin play dough tray!! With this tray, we review everything we’ve learned during our pumpkin study by naming pumpkin parts, building the different stages of the life cycle, counting pumpkins, and so much more! And BONUS – If you make this amazing homemade play dough this tray will last you well over a month!

I hope these ideas for pumpkin books and activities will add so much fun to your Fall learning time this year. Let me know! I’d love to chat and get to know you better! Come hang out with us in some of our favorite places!
