3 Free Pumpkin Math and Literacy Activities for Preschool Children

It’s beginning to look a lot like Fall, and we are so ready to get out all of our pumpkin fun! If you’re looking for some fun Math and Literacy activities, you won’t want to miss these 3 free pumpkin activities for Preschool kiddos! These FREE pumpkin printables cover letter identification, subitizing and number representations, and shapes practice. Whether you are working with children in the classroom or your own little ones at home, I hope that these activities are so helpful for you!

Subitizing Roll and Cover

Subitizing Roll & Cover

Your little learners will love this free pumpkin subitizing game! To play, students roll the included foldable dice and identify the number they rolled. Then, they find and cover a number representation that matches on the game mat. Keep rolling until all of the pumpkins are covered!

If you are working with older children or children who are ready for a little more challenge, try having your kiddos find and cover the number representation that is bigger or smaller than the number they land on!

Shapes Color by the Code

If you have littles who love to color, you’ll definitely need to grab this free pumpkin color by the code worksheet! To complete, students color the shapes on the worksheet by the code to reveal a fun pumpkin image!

These activities make great crafts to display (cut out the completed picture), and we love using them during our Morning Basket time to keep the little ones engaged at the table while we read our other subjects like history and Bible!

Pumpkin Alphabet Roll and Cover

Upper/Lowercase Roll & Cover

Can you tell we love Roll & Cover games?? The reason why is right in the name – they feel like games! So of course we had to include another Roll & Cover game to practice matching upper and lowercase letters! To play this free pumpkin “game”, students roll the dice. Then, identify the uppercase letter they rolled and cover the corresponding lowercase letter on the game board!

Want to extend the use of this activity? Guide children in identifying the sound each letter says, or even help them come up with words that begin with each sound! I love having activities that can be used in a handful of different ways!
