Organizing and Storing Your Homeschool Preschool Supplies – 3 Easy Systems

When you’re homeschooling little learners, the materials can add up quickly—crayons in every room, half-finished printables tucked in baskets, and lesson plans that somehow disappear the moment you need them. If you’ve ever felt buried under your homeschool Preschool supplies, friend, you are so not alone.

The good news? With just a few simple systems, you can bring calm to the chaos and create an organized learning environment that blesses both you and your kiddos. Below, I’m sharing my favorite tried-and-true tips for organizing homeschool Preschool supplies, printable activities, and monthly plans so you can enjoy a smoother, more peaceful homeschool routine!

Little learners thrive when everything has a clear home – and honestly, so do us moms! Keeping basic school supplies organized not only helps your child build independence, but it also makes your homeschool days run more smoothly.

We like to keep a daily supply basket handy in our learning space that organizes all of our homeschool and preschool supplies like crayons, pencils, colored pencils, erasers, etc. Not only does help us to have everything in one place, it’s also very helpful to have a portable container that can move around with us! Some days we like to do our homeschool in the school room. Other days, we take school outside onto the back porch. Using this basket, we’re able to have all of our preschool supplies with us anywhere!

Tip: Choose containers with compartments so little hands can easily put things away.

In addition to our basket of daily preschool supplies, I also like to keep our back up supplies in one location. For us, this is in our girls’ shared linen closet. ha! You know you’re a homeschooler when you’re stashing school supplies with your extra sheets, right?!

But keeping our back up supplies in a more unassuming location keeps them out of little hands, and makes sure they’re always there when I need to make a quick run to get extra markers that aren’t dried out! Back up supplies I like to keep on hand include…

  • Crayon boxes
  • Glue sticks
  • Dry erase markers
  • Construction paper
  • Notebook paper
  • Markers
  • Tape
  • Painting supplies

If you print Preschool resources often, you already know how quickly your stack of “I’ll use this soon!” pages can get overwhelming. Creating a simple system not only saves your sanity but also keeps activities ready to go when your littles are eager to learn.

My favorite way to organize our printed Preschool supplies is by monthly themes. If you’re following our Preschool curriculum, you know that we focus on homeschool Preschool a month at a time. So the easiest way for me to keep track of printed supplies is by only printing what we need for THAT MONTH.

If you want to see what we print and use each month for our homeschool Preschool, click the button below to download our FREE Preschool curriculum map! This map will guide you through each month, telling you exactly which resources to print and use!

Once I’ve used our Preschool curriculum map to see which printables we will need for the month, I take an afternoon while the girls are playing to print out ALL the materials for the upcoming month. I know this might sound daunting, but trust me – doing this all once a month really only takes less than 30 minutes or so and I won’t have to do it again until the next month rolls around!

I love to keep our printed Preschool materials in containers like the one you see below! Just like our supply caddy, this container is able to go with us anywhere we decide to do homeschool Preschool! And since our Preschool curriculum is great for ages 2-5 years old, the containers act as long-term storage until the next school year! I have one for each month (collected over the course of a year from Hobby Lobby or Amazon). So by the end of the school year, all of our printable Preschool supplies are stored for the next school year!

The final thing I do when organizing our homeschool Preschool supplies is take care of lesson plans. I know that may not immediately come to mind when thinking of “school supplies” but I can assure you – having these organized is just as helpful as organizing your materials!

If you’re following along with our Preschool curriculum, the majority of your lesson plans are taken care of for you! Simply print the plans out for each them and print out your curriculum map, and you’re ready to go!

But if you’re like me and you also like to plan out extra activities Science experiments, crafts, field trips, the books you need to check out from the library, and more… I think you’ll find our printable Homeschool Planner very helpful!

Some things you’re able to plan in our printable Homeschool planner include…

  • Weekly theme
  • Books to read
  • Sensory play idea
  • Fine motor activity
  • Literacy and math focuses
  • Outdoor or gross motor plans
  • Bible lesson
  • Field trips
  • Family activities
  • and SO much more!
