7 Helpful Ways to Use a Math and Literacy Binder

As a homeschool mom, I’ve discovered that engaging our little learners doesn’t require an abundance of materials. During our time as full-time RVers, I learned that a few well-chosen resources can make a significant impact. One such resource that transformed our preschool routine is the Math and Literacy Binder.

The beauty of this Preschool binder lies in its versatility. It can be paired with any manipulative your child enjoys—be it pom-poms, playdough, or dry erase markers. (We even turn it into a seasonal activity by using our favorite mini erasers or manipulatives to match the holiday or season!)

Organized neatly in a Preschool binder, it’s perfect for on-the-go learning, making it a staple in our homeschool setup. This was definitely a big “bang for your buck” kind of resource when we were living in our tiny home. But it’s also been extremely helpful as we’ve worked hard to simplify our homeschool materials now that we have multiple children in our family to educate!

This Math and Literacy binder may be a grab-and-go resource, but let me tell ya – it covers so many important Math and Literacy skills! Check ’em out below!

Letter Formation and Tracing: Children can build letters using their favorite manipulatives or trace them with dry erase markers. Each page includes a sentence prompt like “A is for…” accompanied by beginning sound pictures to reinforce early reading skills.

Letters and Beginning Sounds Find & Cover: Using manipulatives, kids can find and cover matching uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as images that start with the corresponding letter sound.

Counting, Number Building, and Tracing: These pages allow children to count and cover dots next to numbers, build numbers with manipulatives, or trace them, enhancing their numerical understanding.

Numbers and Subitizing Find & Cover: Children can find and cover the correct numbers and their representations, aiding in number recognition and subitizing skills.

Color Sorting and Find & Cover: Perfect for sensory bins, these activities help kids sort items by color and match images to color words, reinforcing color recognition.

Shape Tracing and Find & Cover: Kids can trace various shapes and find real-life images of those shapes, connecting geometric concepts to the world around them.

Pre-Writing Lines: For those not yet ready for letters, these pages offer practice with pre-writing lines using manipulatives or tracing, building fine motor skills.

This Math and Literacy binder has become an indispensable part of our homeschool routine. Its adaptability means it grows with your child, providing consistent support as they develop foundational skills from toddlerhood to Preschool. Whether at home or on the move, it’s a reliable resource that brings structure and fun to learning.
